The Access Project

The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. The Centre is closed on weekends and public holidays.

The Access Project is a specialist day centre for people aged 18 to 65, with a physical disability or sensory loss. We offer a wide range of activities in a fun social environment in the heart of Whitton.

Come along to meet up with friends or make new ones. Build your confidence by taking part in our group discussions, or even learn a new skill such as photography. You will be allocated a key worker who can offer you advice on a range of issues such as employment, education or welfare.

Activities:

  • Computing classes
  • Digital photography
  • Exercise
  • Gardening
  • Group discussions
  • Complementary therapies - Shiatsu and reflexology

  • Advocacy group

  • Catering (specialist diets included).

How it works

If you are thinking about attending the centre, you will need to have an assessment first. Having an assessment is free of charge and it can help you and others understand your needs better and it will help you think through the options. If you are eligible for care and support from the Council, they will support you to develop a personalised plan that sets out what's important to you and how you want to be supported.

Even if you’re not eligible for support from the Council, they will always give you information and advice tailored to your circumstances and let you know if there are any other services which may be able to help you.

How much it will cost

You will most likely have to pay something towards your care, how much you pay will depend on your individual circumstances. If you are eligible for financial support from the Council, they will work out how much you can contribute towards the cost of attending the centre. You will still need to pay for the full cost of any meal that you receive.

If you are not eligible for financial support from the Council, you can still attend the centre but will have to pay the full cost every month:

  • Attendance with return transport is £72
  • Attendance with one way transport is £66
  • Attendance with no transport is £61

The cost of day care attendance for out of borough clients is £93.60 per day.

Cost per meal is £5 for Richmond residents and £6.72 for out of borough clients.
